The fourth Demo Night was by necessity a return to the small focus group style used for Demo #1 and #2. Without a way to keep the neighbors happy in the studio currently housing the LED dance floor and other equipment, this demo had to be kept quiet and informal. We invited a small group of friendlies (most of whom had been to earlier demos) to come see the new films and to experience the immersive power of Dancy McDancefloor in person. The amount of effort that it took to get Dancy working led to us not having enough time to create new films or to program anything more than the most rudimentary of first passes at mapping content on the LED floor and properly leveraging the new lights and lasers.

While this was a small and informal demo, it did lead to valuable feedback and represents another step forward for Loud Movies. This was the first time that we were able to properly control the video playback using CDJ-3000‘s and Pioneer Pro DJ Link Bridge to drive Resolume. While this control is limited to video and audio right now, we think there is a path to controlling the entire show using CDJs. That would open up the possibility of achieving one of our largest goals: unlocking the show from fully automated playback to enable actual DJing and light/laser busking (the name for manual operation in a live environment).

The next development sprint will be focused on improving our live control over audio, video, and lights as we attempt to get the entire show operating the way we envisioned it from the beginning – pre-programmed with a layer of improvisational control on top that allows each operator the creative freedom to adjust and add to the show in realtime.
